Natural Remedies For Dandruff That Really Work!

Dandruff – the yucky, flakey bits of dry skin that nobody wants to talk about.

Dandruff is an incredibly common condition, that is usually temporary and can easily be treated.  Unlike just having a “bit of an itchy scalp”, dandruff can become a major cause of embarrassment for the sufferer.

More likely to be found in men than women, and often in individuals with oily skin, dandruff is a flaky pain above the neck that many of us will experience at some time in our lives.

But fear not – the itchy, scratchy barrage of flaky skin can be soothed by many natural remedies.  In this blog, I’m going to share 5 of the most effective dandruff solutions Mother Nature has to offer.  So stop itching for a minute, and read on…

apple-cider-vinegarVinegar Yep, you read that right.  Not only does vinegar taste great on chips, it also acts as a natural fungicide and helps to eliminate unwanted skin cells that would eventually become dandruff. Rinsing your hair through with either Apple Cider Vinegar or White Vinegar is a particularly effective way to treat dandruff, as it addresses the root of the problem.  Mixing up your dandruff-dousing vinegar solution couldn’t be easier.  You will simply need:

  • 1/2 cup of warm water
  • 1/2 cup of ACV or white vinegar
  • A cup to mix in

Literally, all you have to do is mix the two ingredients together and pour the mixture over your hair.  Rub it into your scalp, leave for a couple of minutes, then rinse with water.  Repeat every week and see our flakes disappear.!

bakingBaking Soda – this little beauty has many excellent uses, but it becomes the stuff that dreams are made off when used as a gentle exfoliant for the scalp.  Easy to buy, easy to use and definitely helps to do away with the dreaded ‘druff!

Simply wet your hair and add a spoonful of baking soda to your roots.  Rub well in, and then rinse with just water. The baking soda reduces overactive fungi that can cause dandruff, giving you a cheap and cheerful remedy that really works.

Worried about the smell?  Well, who wouldn’t be?  If you can’t bare to be seen out smelling like a slice of garlic bread, why not add some honey and lemon to the mix instead?

aloeMy final top natural remedy for dandruff comes in the form of Aloe Vera, a plant that has many, many uses in natural remedies.  Aloe Vera acts as an anti-fungal and antibacterial product, that can also calm down an irritated scalp and provide relief from inflammation.   For best results, add the natural Aloe Vera from the plant. The gel should be rubbed directly onto the scalp at night, and the rinsed out in the morning for the very best results.  Quite frankly though, Aloe Vera is so marvellous, I wonder if there is any condition it doesn”t help with!
